Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 27, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how SGML Accounting ("SGML", "we", "us") collects, uses, and protects information when you visit sgmlaccounting.com (the "Site"). We respect your privacy and collect only what we need. By using the Site, you agree to this Policy.
1. Information we collect
Information collected automatically. Like most websites, we use analytics to understand how the Site is used. Through Google Analytics we collect standard, largely de-identified data such as the pages you view, your approximate (city-level) location, device and browser type, and the website or link that referred you. This is gathered using cookies and similar identifiers.
Information you give us. When you book an introductory meeting through our scheduling tool (Google Calendar appointment scheduling), you provide your name, email address, and any details you choose to share — including your answer to "How did you hear about us?". If you email us, we receive your email address and message.
2. Cookies and analytics
We use cookies for analytics (Google Analytics 4). These help us see which content is useful so we can improve the Site. You can control or disable cookies in your browser settings, and you can opt out of Google Analytics specifically using Google's opt-out browser add-on. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
3. How we use information
- To operate, maintain, and improve the Site and its content.
- To schedule and prepare for meetings you request.
- To respond to your questions and messages.
- To understand which topics and content are most helpful to readers.
4. How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only with trusted service providers that help us run the Site and our scheduling, and only as needed to provide those services — currently Google (for analytics and for calendar/meeting scheduling). These providers process data under their own privacy policies. We may also disclose information if required by law.
5. International processing
Our service providers (such as Google) may process and store data on servers located outside Canada, including in the United States. Where that happens, the information remains subject to safeguards consistent with this Policy.
6. Data retention
We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes described here, or as required by law, and then delete or de-identify it.
7. Your privacy rights
Under Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable provincial law, you may request access to the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. To make a request, email info@sgmlaccounting.com.
8. Children
The Site is intended for business owners and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of majority.
9. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. Changes take effect when posted here, and the "Last updated" date above will reflect the latest revision.
